Fourth of July in Chicago

Happy Fourth of July everyone! I hope you all had a happy and safe holiday!

After working out in L.A. all weekend, I was so happy to be back with my boys in time for the Fourth. We decided to spend it in Chicago this year. It’s only about three and a half hours away from Indianapolis, so Kent and I have been coming here for little weekend getaways since we were dating.  We absolutely LOVE the city.

All un-prompted hugs must be documented.

My friend Hollie and her family came too and we had a blast! Our boys loved having some other kids to play with.

My sister (Lala) had a break from school so she also got to come with us!

We all headed out to Navy Pier for the evening. It was PACKED, but we had so much fun listening to live music, eating hot dogs and ice cream, and of course, watching the fireworks.
I’ll always love our Country, but there’s just something about the Fourth that makes me extra proud to be an American and so thankful to raise my children here.

The next morning, Kent had a little work to do, so Lala, the boys and I headed to Dylan’s Candy Bar. We stocked up on fudge for me, and the boys were obsessed with these gumball guns I got them. Speaking of obsessed, can we talk about this watermelon tee?

After that we headed to “the beach” (aka Lake Michigan).

Our boys are beach fanatics. It doesn’t matter if it’s the bank of the retention pond behind our house or the Caribbean Sea, as long as they have a shovel and sand, or some water to splash in, they’re as happy as can be. All they need is the beach and all I need is them.
