Look who’s on the blog with me today?! Kent usually takes all my blog pictures, but today I drug him out from behind the camera and into my post. He’s such a good sport.

Today I’m talking about New Year’s Resolutions. Did you make them? It’s January 18th. How’s it going so far?

Each year I try to make one resolution for each of these categories:

Professional

Financial

Motherhood

Wifey Life

Our House

Personal

Relationships

and the dreaded Physical/Health category. <—Blah.

I am not an athlete. I hate, I mean HATE working out, exercising, the gym, eating healthy, all of it. I cringe whenever one of my readers asks me for fitness advice, or how I stay in shape. I am the WORST person to be giving out advice in this area! I live on Happy Meals and Junior Mints and walking with my kids to the park is about the extent of exercise I’ve been getting lately. It’s sad, but true. I’m not really overweight, I just have zero muscle tone to my body. :/

I ate a low carb diet and worked out on the elliptical a few times a week after I had both my boys and that helped me loose my baby weight. I even kept up the elliptical when Kent was gone last time (Army). I have the hardest time sleeping when he’s away so I just did the elliptical while binge watching Bravo at night for about three months straight. But except for a few weeks here and there he’s been home for the past two years and I’m going to blame him for me falling off the wagon. We end up eating out so much more because we’re traveling or going on date nights. Plus he has to exercise/run for the Army so he can eat pretty much whatever he wants and not gain a pound and I have no willpower to turn down Sour Cream and Onion Chips once he brings the bag to our bed at 9pm.

The point is, I am feeling blah and bloated and the new year is the perfect time to get back on track! I told myself I could start a little late because we were traveling so much at the beginning of the year. I don’t really have an exact plan yet, but I do have some new workout clothes thanks to Nordstrom!  My sister lives right beside the Nordstrom in Indianapolis so we went by there after stopping in to see her last week and I got a bunch of new workout clothes. It’s so nice that they have a bunch of different brands all in one place! I’m hoping they’ll give me some much needed motivation. I absolutely love both these leggings and the jacket. My exact shoes keep selling out so I linked a really similar pair too.

Kent is leaving tomorrow night with the Army and won’t be back until the end of this year. So I’m giving myself Saturday and Sunday to eat brownies and cry in bed and then Monday, it’s officially “go-time”. We have a gym here at our apartment so I’m going to try to find something on Pinterest to give me some instructions. I definitely want to tone up, but I’m also hoping that working out will be a good distraction for me while he’s gone, and hopefully relieve stress and help me sleep!

Kent’s entire outfit is from Nordstrom too! He will be doing some pretty rigorous training this year so I think his main goal is just to survive. Haha!

Do any of y’all have a program that you follow and love? I’m usually just a “wing-it” kind of person, but since I have zero knowledge when it comes to this stuff, maybe I should make myself more of a plan…I’d love to hear in the comments below, or over on my Instagram post.

Let me know and wish me luck!

xoxo
