Valentine’s Day Throwbacks!

I love Valentine’s Day! What’s not to love about LOVE?

I’ve never understood why some don’t want to celebrate this Holiday. I’ve heard a few people say, “Valentine’s Day is dumb. We should celebrate those we love everyday…” Well duh. But you could say that about any holiday right? Is Thanksgiving dumb because we should be thankful all year long? Should we stop celebrating Veteran’s Day just because we should honor Veterans every day? Or stop celebrating Mother’s and Father’s Day because we should love our parents all year long? You get the point.

Life gets crazy and busy and I think it’s nice to have a day to show the ones you love a little extra attention.

2018 is my tenth year with Kent as my Valentine, but our first year celebrating it apart. As most of y’all know, he is gone (Army) right now so we won’t be together this year. But, I woke up this morning with two shirtless men in my bed who both love to snuggle so I’d say I’m a pretty lucky girl. 🙂

I thought it’d be fun to share some old pictures of some of my favorite Valentine memories with y’all today!

These first pictures are from 2016. Kent and I had a little weekend getaway in New York City and on Valentine’s Day we met up with our wedding photographers who snapped these for us before we went out to dinner. It was the coldest day NYC had had in YEARS! I think the wind chill was like -30 or something like that. Anyway, we were FREEZING, but it was such a fun memory. We loved getting to see our wedding photographers again after almost 8 years! They had moved to New York City so they drove us all around and gave us a mini tour of the city that afternoon and then we took these pictures in Central Park. Thanks to the cold, we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Ok talk about a throwback, this was our first Valentine’s Day together 10 years ago! We look like babies! We had been dating for about 6 months at this point. How cool are my long French nails and graphic tee?!

Kent got me my first piece of real diamond jewelry (necklace) and I made him this scrapbook. We still have it sitting on our coffee table.

Aw, this was the first year we were married! I never cook, but I got up early and made him pink pancakes and heart shaped eggs for breakfast before he went to work. I think I’m going to do that this year with the boys too.

This was our second Valentine’s Day as a married couple. We went out to Las Vegas for a couple’s trip with my two best friends (and their men) for the weekend. I can’t get over my hair! Lol!

This was our third Valentine’s Day together in Indiana. I decorated our entry table with all our old letters and notes we’d written each other while we were dating.  It was so fun to get them all out and re-read them.

Valentine’s Day 2013 was our first one with Roman! These pictures make me want to cry. I can barely remember him being this little.

This year we’re planning on celebrating with a heart-shaped pizza and probably watching “Captain Underpants” for the 50th time. Haha!

I hope you all feel extra loved today and always!

xoxo
